A warm weather tradition will return to Norlina Junction Park this year as the Norlina Market season will begin with the Norlina Market Festival on Saturday, June 1, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

This year’s events, hosted by the Norlina Activities Club, formerly the Norlina Revitalization & Planning Committee, and Turner Brothers, LLC, will include activities for people of all ages, with music, bounce houses and food. Music is sponsored by Warrenton radio station WARR-1520 AM.

The festival will feature a variety of live music from a number of area performers, including Larry Cox with country music, and Shenika Marie with Neo Soul and Rhythm and Blues.

Several local growers are scheduled to offer butterbeans, squash and other produce, plants, flowers and seeds, free range eggs, pork, honey and more.

Food trucks from Lawrence & Perry Barbeque, Wandering Dawg and Presto will be on hand, and other food vendors will have items ranging from ice cream to turkey legs.

Arts and crafts vendors will offer wares that include homemade crafts, jewelry, cosmetics, baked goods and more.

The festival will also include Zumba in the Park with Mary Soriano Lopez, giveaways, a bounce house for children and a raffle. Corey Long will lead Paint in the Park with art activities for children and adults.

Latarshia Turner-Brothers, chairwoman of the Norlina Activities Club, said that Norlina Markets are designed not only to offer fun activities for families to enjoy without having to leave Warren County, but also to provide opportunities for local entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services.

After the kickoff festival, Norlina Markets will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month in July and August. In September, the event will be held on the second Saturday. The season will conclude with a Norlina Market Festival on the first Saturday in October.

All events will be held at Norlina Junction Park, 306 Liberty St., next to the Norlina Post Office. Vendor space is available for the following fees: $50 for food trucks, $20 for farmers and $25 for other vendors.

Turner-Brothers said that the Norlina Activities Club wants to expand beyond the market season to provide activities throughout the year. Already in the works is a holiday bazaar to be held Nov. 2 in the park.

The club has grown to include new members Antonio Seward, co-chairman; Aimee Anderson, secretary; Mary Downey, Juanita Marks, T.D. Adams, Walter Hundley and Jennifer Henderson.
