Warren County Schools has announced its schedule for making up class days that students missed in September due to Hurricane Florence. The board of education approved the plans during its Oct. 9 regular monthly meeting.

The school system will utilize dates identified in its 2018-19 calendar schedule as potential make-up days, including the day before Thanksgiving.

Traditional calendar schools

Students at South Warren and Vaughan elementary schools, and Warren New Tech High School missed two days of class. To make those up, they will attend school for half days on Friday, Oct. 19, and Wednesday, Nov. 21.

Semester calendar schools

Students at Warren Early College High School, Warren County High School and Warren County Middle School also missed two days of school. They made up one day on Sept. 28. To make up the other, students will be in school for a half day on Wednesday, Nov. 21.

The revised calendar also notes that May 9 will be a testing day, and Warren Early College High School will hold graduation on May 17 instead of May 24.

Year-round schools

Students at Mariam Boyd Elementary School and Northside K-8 School missed one day of class. To make that up, students will be in school for a half day on Wednesday, Nov. 21.

Taking into consideration the likelihood of inclement weather through winter, the school system has incorporated additional dates in its school calendars as potential make-up dates. Especially during the winter storm season, Warren County Schools may take the option of using Saturdays as make-up days. However, notification must be provided to parents by the Wednesday before.
