An evening of music, a visit from Bigfoot and spooky thrills for children and adults is in store as the Warrenton Revitalization Committee presents the Ninth Annual Fright Night on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 4-8 p.m. on Courthouse Square in downtown Warrenton. The event will be followed by the traditional Ghost Tour at 8:30 p.m.

The event is free of charge, but $1 donations will be accepted to assist with future activities for children.

The Revitalization Committee hopes that individuals and families will decide to spend the evening in downtown Warrenton by having a bite to eat at local restaurants and bringing lawnchairs to sit and enjoy the music and surprises of Fright Night. The committee also hopes that downtown businesses will reflect the spirit of the event by decorating their storefronts in a fall or Halloween theme.

Decorations of ghosts and ghouls – and a light show – will transform Courthouse Square’s typical business-like atmosphere into a Halloween wonderland. Music from disc jockey Lee Burrows of Solid Sound Productions will set the mood for dancing and spine-tingling fun.

People planning to attend are encouraged to wear costumes and register for prize drawings to be held throughout the evening. Face painting and festival foods will be available.

While they are having fun, those attending may want to keep an eye out for Bigfoot, who might be roaming downtown Warrenton. He could pop up anywhere!

The festival will conclude at 8 p.m., but that doesn’t mean that the thrills and chills are over. Local spirits will lead a Haunted Historic Sites Tour through the downtown area beginning at 8:30 p.m.

Tour participants should meet on Courthouse Square for a walk along Warrenton’s streets as they hear tales of local residents’ experiences with the paranormal.

Fright Night also is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of Warren County and several local businesses.

The Warrenton Revitalization Committee is seeking face painters and other volunteers. Vendor registration also is welcome. For more information, call 252-257-1122, visit warrenton.nc.gov or email townadministrator@warrenton.nc.gov.
