Students at Norlina Christian School participated in a literacy project during chapel on Friday, Aug. 30, utilizing The Warren Record's Newspaper In Education (NIE) Literacy Program to explore the parable of the "Good Samaritans."
K4 through second-grade students searched the newspaper to create a collage of photos depicting "who is my neighbor."
At the same time third through sixth graders used the newspaper to research what information would be needed to conduct an interview. The students then used their research to conduct a mock interview with Principal Seth Miller as the injured man of the story.
Students presented final findings to the group as the younger students explained that the newspaper was full of photos of individuals who, regardless of appearance or circumstances, were their neighbors. The older students reported the outcome of their interview as they explained the significance of the Samaritan man's actions.
Norlina Christian School is one of 10 Warren County schools participating in The Warren Record's NIE program.
