Verlie Reid Thompson Stegall, 86, of Macon, died on Thursday, April 25, at Brentwood Nursing Home in Oxford. The Rev. Bobby Harrell will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 29, at Macon Baptist Church with burial to follow in Warren Plains Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Stegall was a native of Warren County, born to the late Waviely E. and Lilly Verline Reid Thompson.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Guy Marshall Stegall; and her siblings, J.B. Thompson, William A. Thompson, M.E. “Doc” Thompson, Suzie T. Stegall, Mary T. Copley and Ethel Thompson Westmoreland.

Verlie was a member of the Macon Baptist Church, and was a loving homemaker and seamstress at Fashion Cleaners in Warrenton.

She is survived by her children, Beverly S. Ross and husband, Jimmy, and Guy Michael Stegall and wife, Shirley; her grandchildren, Marsha R. Overby and husband, Jason, Jamie R. Holtzman and husband, Justin, Brian Stegall and Alisia Stegall; and her 11 great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Aycock, Johnathon Aycock, Kent Copley, Steve Hale, Jerry Thompson, Spencer Naphier, Scooter Edwards and Terry Breen.

Flowers are acceptable; the family asks that anyone who prefers making a memorial donation to direct it to Amedisys Home Health, 3320 US 1, Suite C, Franklinton, NC 27525.
