Edith Dickerson Adams, 92, of Warrenton, a resident of Carillon Assisted Living in Knightdale, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 28. The Rev. Rob Evans and Chaplain Charles Rainey will conduct services at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 3, at Blaylock Funeral Home in Warrenton with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Macon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Adams was born in Warren County on Nov. 4, 1926, to the late Henry Eugene and Merl Gupton Dickerson. Edith was a member of Macon Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, she was a hostess at Holiday Inn in Henderson and South Hill, Va.
In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Adams; brother, Harry Hunter Dickerson; and sister-in-law, Peggy Dickerson.
She is survived by daughter, Linda Adams Barnes (Jerry) of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; son, Barry Adams (Betty Jean) of Gold Sand; brother, Edward Dickerson of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Chad Barnes (Maribeth) of Pawleys Island, S.C., Kelcey B. Ierardi (Calvin Preston) of Garner and Rebecca A. Wray (George Kitrell) of Oxford; great-grandchildren, Tyler Barnes, Allison Barnes, Colby Barnes, Carson Zito, Alex Wray, Ryan Wray and Kaeli Liken, Rylee Preston and special friend, Jean Bedward.
Her family and role as a mother and grandmother were very important to her. This is where she drew her strength and left her legacy. Being with her family was what she enjoyed most.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Carillon Assisted Living of Knightdale for their love and care of Edith for the last several years. Also a very special thank you to Amedisys Hospice for their care and support.
