Alfred Solomon, 51, departed this life on Sept. 20 at his residence in Warrenton. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Mitchell Baptist Church in Louisburg by the Rev. Daniel W. Lilly, pastor, officiating, and the Rev. Dr. Tony W. Cozart, eulogist. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Solomon was born Jan. 4, 1967, to the late William and Inez Solomon in Newark, N.J.

Alfred graduated from Clifford High School in East Orange, N.J., in 1986 and attended Oklahoma State University. He held many jobs over his life, including that of long-distance truck driver.

He was the first water baptism candidate under Rev. Dr. Tony Cozart’s leadership in 2004 at Cooks Chapel Baptist Church. Also, he attended Oasis of Hope Ministries in Henderson.  

In addition to his parents, Mr. Solomon was preceded in death by three brothers, Harvey Crews, Lawrence Crews and Johnny Crews.

He leaves to cherish his memories: five children, Karen Williams of Newark, N.J., Alshamir Solomon and TaJohn Williams, both of East Orange, N.J., Calista Solomon of Hillside, N.J., and Alfred Solomon of Warrenton; three grandchildren, Brandon, Manson and Kyra; two brothers, Billy Crews of Augusta, Ga., and Albert Solomon of Warrenton; two sisters, Dale Crews of East Orange, N.J., and Alice Solomon of Maple Wood, N.J.; his adopted brother and sister, Rodger L. Solomon, Jr. (Reginia) of Charlotte and Rosalind Evans of Warrenton; three aunts, Carrie Massenburg of East Orange, N.J.,  Gracie Farmer (Frank) of Tyler, Texas, and Ruby Solomon (Mom) of Warrenton;  one uncle, Lenzo Solomon of East Orange, N.J.; one best friend from childhood, David Fuentes; one special friend; three fraternity brothers, Richard Murphy, Shadick Jones and Vincent Conklin; a special niece, Shanetrice Solomon; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.

Cousins and friends served as pallbearers and floral bearers.
