Walter Douglas Talley, 72, departed this life on Thursday, April 18. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, April 22, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Wise by the Rev. Preston Williams, pastor. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Talley was born on April 4, 1947, in Warrenton, to the late Eugene and Mary Lou Talley.

He joined Bethlehem Baptist Church in Wise, at an early age and later moved to Enfield, where met his wife, Emma. After many years of marriage, she preceded him in death. Walter was employed at Georgia Pacific in Enfield for many years and worked as a farmer.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Roger, Ronald, Jessie, Bessie and Frank, and one sister, Neita.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters Frances Harrison (Jerry) and Lisa Hart (Alphonso), all of Enfield; two sons, Milton Brinson (Sally) of Rocky Mount and Johnnie Johnson of Enfield; 10 grandchildren; three siblings, Darnell Talley (Laura) of Greer, S.C., Ruth Ann Talley-Wilson (Clint) of Warrenton and Vanilla Nell Moss (Carl) of Wise; one aunt, Ann Marie Shaw of Wise; one uncle, John Roberts of Warrenton; nine nieces, Syntha Branch (Edmund) of Norlina, Rose Talley- Boyd (William) of Greer, S.C., special niece, Lakeysha Talley of Wise, Tomeka Talley and Tishea Talley, both of Oine, the Rev. Ebony Talley-Brame (Alvin) of Warrenton, Tiwanda Scott (Tim) of Norlina, and Ronda Benn and Karen Chandler, both of Baltimore, Md.; four nephews, Barry Talley of Louisburg, Frank Talley (Vanessa) of Gaffney, S.C., special nephew, Roy Lee Talley of Wise and Carl Moss, Jr. of Norlina; one special cousin and friend, Joe Hunt (MaryAnn); and a host of relatives and friends.

Pall Bearers were Joe L. Hunt, June Davis, Theodore Montague, James D. Roberts, Charles Shaw and Larry Johnson.
