Cora Lee Williams Greene, 92, departed this life on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Treyburn Rehabilitation Center in Durham. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Greenwood Baptist Church with burial following in New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Greene was born June 8, 1926, to Eugene and Florence Arrington Williams in Warrenton. She joined Greenwood Baptist Church at an early age. She was married on Dec 15, 1945 to Robert Greene.

A homemaker and gifted seamstress, Mrs. Greene worked for J.P. Taylor, Carolina Sportswear, WVSP Radio, the N.C. Senior Citizens Federation and at Incahoots.

Mrs. Greene was also a passionate community and civil rights volunteer, whose efforts included work with the Warren County Board of Elections and Southern Christian Leadership Conference, involvement with the Warren County Political Action Council, and involvement with PCB dump protests in Warren County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert and sister, Mary Guy Harris.

Mrs. Greene is survived by her sister, Ethel Green; seven children, Diane Brandt (Ernest), Robert Greene (Jeanette) and Felix Greene (Carolyn), all of Warrenton, Florence Owens and Tina Williams, both of Durham, Constance Davis of Henderson, and Derrick Greene (Deidre) of Lithonia, Ga.; 13 grandchildren, Donovan Davis, Niketa Greene, Omari Brandt, Kamilah Adediran, Rashida Brandt, Ahmani Owens, Shamisha Williams, Heshak Greene, Aaron Owens, Julian Greene, Marcus French, Zakira Greene, and Saailyah Greene; 12 great-grandchildren, Amir Frazier, Kehinde Adediran, Tai Adediran, Kemi Adediran, Amayah Davis, Zuri Brandt, Ishmael Davis, Rachel Owens, Zahyir Moore, Reuben Owens, Landen French and Saniyah Greene; a sister-in-law, Mattie Green; a brother-in-law, Fred Harris; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Ken Green, Reginald Green, Malvin Green, Charles Harris, Larry Harris, Ahmani Owens, Aaron Owens and Justin Williams.
