Jerome Edward Plummer Sr., 61, unexpectedly entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 9, in Henderson. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, in the Boyd & Royster Funeral Service Chapel in Warrenton. Burial will be in Burchette Chapel Church Cemetery in Norlina.

Mr. Plummer, son of the late John A. Plummer, Sr. and Eleanor Dukes Plummer, was born March 14, 1958 in Millen, Ga.  Jerome was baptized at Morrison Grove Baptist Church.

He was educated in the Hephzibah school system in Richmond County, Ga., graduating in 1976. On Aug. 4, 1976, Jerome joined the U.S. Army, where he served for 11 years.

After being assigned to Stuttgart, Germany, he met Alice Faye Harper, whom he married on April 11, 1981.

During his time in the Army, Jerome received the Army Commendation Medal and multiple Army Good Conduct Medals. He also received NCO Professional Development Ribbons, Honor Guard-Army Service Ribbons, Overseas Service Ribbons and the Expert Badge Shooter commendation. Jerome was honorably discharged from active duty as a highly decorated SP4.

Jerome worked for Carolina Telephone and Telegraph Company. In the summer of 1989, the Plummer family relocated to Warren County. Here, he transferred his membership to Chapel Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee, assistant treasurer and Sunday school teacher.

He leaves to cherish his memory: Alice, his loving wife of 41 years; his son, Jerome Jr.; daughters, Jamaila and Michelle Robinson Roshto; son, Jermine; two goddaughters, Diamond and Destiny; sisters, Patricia and Connie; brothers, John, Jr. and Julius; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; special friends for over 41 years, Laura Harlie, Vivian Johnson and Quonda Walker; and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Jermaine Plummer, Terrence Terry, Trevor Terry, Edwallos Hudson, Harril Durham and Tony Henderson.
