Editor’s note: As the anniversary of the end of the Civil War was observed in April, The Warren Record had intended to publish this list of U.S. Colored Troops from Warren County who fought in that war, but we were delayed in obtaining permission from the copyright holder. We publish the list in today’s issue, reminded that this week, on Thursday, June 6, the 75th anniversary of D-Day will be remembered.

U.S. Colored Troops, Warren County

The following is a listing of some of the soldiers who were born in Warren County and enlisted to serve in what was known as the United States Colored Troops during the Civil War. Most of these men were apparently living in other states when they enlisted, and these records can be helpful to those researchers looking for what may have happened to some of their ancestors.

Additional information on the U.S. Colored Troops formed in North Carolina can be found online, including from the NCGenWeb Project, which has given permission for reprinting of their information.
