I have so many thanks to give for our first Craft Day at The Old Cotton Gin. First, I joked that I guess I asked too many people to pray for sunshine that day because we had sunshine and 100-degree temps.

Nevertheless, I am grateful for all those who attended, our talented artists, crafters and other vendors, our wonderful musicians Bob and Judy Williams of Cynergy, Angela Hyson and “Babe,” who provided those wonderful cart rides, Victoria Paynter Privette for our lovely children’s mural, our volunteers Scott Satterwhite, Charla Moran, Roberta Miller and the high school volunteers who were able to complete their community service requirement with us and get a delicious free lunch in the process.

I am also so grateful to all those who participated in the raffle, both as vendors donating items and as ticket purchasers or other contributors, in making our first Warren County Scholarship for the Arts a huge success and helping us reach our goal of $1,000. I am also grateful for Keonay Witherspoon, our scholarship winner, for being the multifaceted talent that made it worthwhile to have this fund.

I want, too, to thank Jennifer Harris, Luci Weldon and the entire staff at The Warren Record for their efforts to make Craft Day a success, especially the many wonderful articles and pictures leading up to and after Craft Day. Focusing on our headliners, all of whom had deep connections to Warrenton, made the coverage very special. The 45-picture gallery on the newspaper website was extraordinary.

Finally, I thank Anne and Tommy Satterwhite of The Old Cotton Gin from the bottom of my heart. Their vision in creating this special historic event venue and their unfailing assistance in making events happen flawlessly is a gift to our town.

We are already planning our next events at The Old Cotton Gin: The Second Annual Farmers Christmas and Plantapalooza 2020. I hope that the citizens of Warren County and beyond will continue to support these efforts to bring fun, excitement and culture to our great town.
