Some of you who write these letters to The Warren Record should remember that the president of the United States has been fact checked and has been shown to have lied to our faces over 10,000 times, that Fox, CNN and MSNBC are not the accurate sources for your information, but rather more accurate sources for your information are The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times (contrary to what Trump says), National Public Radio, the Public Broadcasting Station (TV), for fact checking, and The Economist. I ask you to check your facts before you make/believe these outrageous statements and assumptions.

As to immigrants being the people that Trump describes them to be, and his supporters following along like the Energizer Bunny, it’s a disgrace upon our nation. I believe that unless we are Native American Indians, we are all immigrants or descendants of immigrants, but we seem to have forgotten that. So if you are an immigrant or a descendant of an immigrant, are you the rapist, killer, etc. that Trump is talking about? You must be, because we are all immigrants, right? No, that’s not right. Yes, there are rapists, killers, etc. among us, and some of them may be immigrants. But just look at your family. You have good and not so good members of your family. Would you cast out all of your family because of the not so good? Would you cast out the hardworking men and women just like you, who are trying to feed their families, who are contributing to this country? Is that the Christian thing to do? Trump didn’t. He hired illegal immigrants in his facilities for decades. He just got caught with his hands in the cookie jar.

The Congressional Budget Office reported in 2007 that “in aggregate and over the long term, tax revenues of all types generated by immigrants—both legal and unauthorized—exceed the cost of the services they use.” And due to cheaper labor costs, immigrants contribute to lower prices in the industries where they work, such as agriculture, restaurants, and construction, i.e., these are the men, women and children who are putting the very food you eat on your table, who are building your homes. Immigrants are helping you by lowering the costs of your food and homes.

And I want to write particularly to the Christians among you. Where is your charity? Where is your “do unto others”? I ask you, do Christians throw people aside or welcome them into the fold? Are you reading from the Old Testament or the New?

Finally, I ask you what has happened to our great nation? What has happened when Americans divide so belligerently into this party and that? Aren’t we all neighbors? Have we allowed our own president to divide and conquer us better than any foreign power could do?
