The Eagles lost in a heartbreaker at home Friday night when they were defeated 31-28 by the Granville Central Panthers.

The game was decided by a controversial Panthers field goal that WCHS coach Terrance McCormick said appeared to go under the goal post, but referees ruled was good.

The coach said that his team played hard on both offense and defense, but made mistakes at crucial periods that cost the Eagles a two-touchdown lead.

“We just have to stop making costly mistakes and turnovers,” McCormick said.

The Eagles’ next test will be a Friday matchup at Bunn High School beginning at 7:30 p.m.
