Warren County High School senior football standouts De’Karri Green and Dontrez Waddell on Monday signed with Livingstone College in Salisbury to play football for the Blue Bears.

Terrance McCormick has been their coach since their freshman year with the Warren County Eagles.

“I’ve watched them grow and mature into young men and good football players,” he said.

Running back Green, son of Dee Edwards and Jeaneque Green of Drewry, has earned All Conference honors and been named Offensive Player of the Year during his career at WCHS.

Offensive lineman Waddell, son of Thurlette Tunstall and Dennis Waddell of Warrenton, has also earned All Conference honors and has been named Offensive Lineman of the Year.

McCormick watched with happiness as the two players signed to continue their football careers at the college level.

“This is a proud moment, a blessing,” he said. “I thank their parents for the opportunity to coach their kids.”

WCHS Interim Principal Carolyn Faucette said that Green and Waddell can look forward to promising futures both on and off the gridiron.

“Both young men have the attitude that will take them places,” she said. “They are pleasant, persevering and will work hard to reach their goals.”
