With the arrival of fall, it will soon be time for the annual Harvest Market Festival, presented by the Warrenton Revitalization Committee. This year’s event will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, on Courthouse Square on historic downtown Warrenton’s Main Street.
The festival will offer something for people of all ages, including music, vendors, food, activities for children and a pumpkin pie contest. Those attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair for a full day of fun.
The event will begin with an opening ceremony featuring remarks from Warrenton Mayor Walter Gardner and the singing of the National Anthem by Warren County native Chris Hunter.
The day’s entertainment will begin at 10:30 a.m. with music by GrassStreet bluegrass band. The Brake Tyme Band will perform from 1-4 p.m.
Bounce houses will be available for children to enjoy throughout the day.
Pumpkin Pie Contest
For the first time, Harvest Market will include a Pumpkin Pie Contest with divisions for adults and for youth age 18 and under. There is no charge to enter, and prizes will be awarded for the top three desserts in each age category.
One entry per person will be accepted. Pies are required to have a bottom and side crust with both the pie and crust made from scratch. Store-bought pies, and store-bought or frozen crusts will not be permitted. Pies must be baked in a disposable pan.
Pies, along with a completed entry form, should be brought to the Warren County Tourism Booth at the festival between 10 a.m. and noon. Judging will begin shortly after noon, and the winners will be announced during an awards ceremony at 1:30 p.m.
