Willie Clifton Williams, Jr., 79, departed this life on Monday, Feb. 15, at Granville Medical Center in Oxford. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21, in the chapel of Boyd & Royster Funeral Services of Warrenton by Minister Antoine Hargrove, officiating, and the Rev. Lawrence Williams, eulogist. Burial followed in Greenwood Baptist Church Cemetery in Warrenton.
Mr. Williams, son of the late Willie C. Williams, Sr. Daisy Lee Hymon Williams, was born March 6, 1941, in Warren County. He was one of 17 children. Educated in the Warren County public school system, Willie graduated from John R. Hawkins High School in 1960.
He was a laborer, truck driver and forklift driver with J.P. Stevenson and Ball-InCon Glass Packaging Plant, retiring after more than three decades of service.
He married the former Zonneta Hopkins on Oct. 4, 1963. They had three daughters and two sons: Loretta Nixon (Craig) of Bowie, Md., Carrie Williams of Richmond, Va.; Angela Harris (Marc, Sr.) of Odenton, Md., Clifton Delane Wiliams (Ethel) of Macon and Anthony Williams (Angie) of Henderson. Later in his life, he was blessed with bonus daughters, Shemetric Spriggs of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Shanika Bell of Columbia, Md.
Willie is also survived by siblings, Mary Gie Kearney (Lee), Connetta Williams, Lyndell Whaki (Jamil), Prophetess Sandra H. Williams, James Hymon (Geraldine), Kenneth Williams (Sandra), John Williams (Sheila), Rev. Eddie Williams (Betty), Gaynell Williams (Ella), Barkley Williams and Carlton Williams (Ellen); sisters-in-law, Carrie Craddox (Jimmy), Alvin Alston, Zenobia Hopkins and Faye Williams; two brothers-in-law, Gills Hopkins and Richard Hopkins (Ann); 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, Michael, Amber, Anthony, Jr., LaShawn, Jabri, Delana, LaCrissa,. Marc, Jr., Lauryn, Christian, Antonio, Craig, Jr., Jeremiah, Nia, Jada and Sinai.
Willie was preceded in death by siblings, Joyce Ann Williams Stith, Shirley Hymon Davis, Anthony Williams, Ernest Williams and Charles Williams; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
