The Rev. Michael Leon Palmer, 67, died Saturday, Dec. 11. A Celebration of Life was conducted at noon Friday, Dec. 17, at United Solid Rock Faith Ministries in Warrenton by Bishop Moore H. Bynum, pastor, and the Rev. Milton Solomon, officiating, and the Rev. King Perry, eulogist. Burial followed in Jordan Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Macon.
Mr. Palmer was born March 24, 1954, in Warrenton, to Charlie and Varanie Green Palmer.
Educated in Warren County public schools, he studied brick masonry at Vance-Granville Community College, working in the field for several years. He became a transfer truck driver and formed his business, MLP Transport, Incorporated.
He accepted Jesus Christ and joined Jordan Hill Baptist Church. He became a Deacon, then an ordained Minister in 2014 at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church and accepted the call to become a Reverend.
He married his wife, Diane, on Aug. 15, 1987.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Palmer; five daughters, Lisa Carroll (Randy), Jamie Meadows, Veronica Henderson (Willie), Maliaka Palmer and Shakita Kearney (William); one special son, Rodney Davis (Audrey); 12 grandchildren, Devin Burse, Kenneth Carroll, Briana Lowery (Allen Lowery), Deiondre Palmer, Darrell Barnes Jr., Zaivion Palmer, Ryan Barnes, Aniya Palmer, Israel Barnes, Aliya Palmer, Uriah Barnes and Jonathan Barnes; one great-grandchild, Braelyn Palmer, and one great-grandchild due in March 2022; his siblings, Margaret Washington, Rueben Palmer (Ingrid), Varanie Lewis (Joe), Malvena Palmer, LaVonia Twitty (Walter), Ella Williams (Gaynell), Winnie Prince, Tinny Perry and Robert ‘Pete’ Perry (Mildred); his mother-in-law, Lucille Williams Little; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cornelia Palmer, Sandy Davis (Ada), Robert Williams, Barbara Davis, Bessie Meadows (Richard), Brenda Yates (Paul), Debra Perry (Roun), Sonya Oglesby (Greg), Regina Shaw (Rich), Freddie Little (Harvey) and Vivian Wooten; and other relatives.
Mr. Palmer was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Osborne Bernard Palmer, Charlie Herbert Palmer, Gloria Durham, Susie Mae King, King Junior Perry, Frank Perry, Willie Perry and Louise Townes.
