Melvin Wright Williams, 73, departed this life on Friday, April 2. A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, in the chapel of Boyd & Royster Funeral Services in Warrenton by the Rev. Emery Jones, pastor of Fork Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in the Inez Community, Warrenton. Burial was in Spring Green Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Warrenton.

Melvin, son of the late Willie Roy Williams and Mabel Gertrude Cheek Williams, was born March 6, 1948. He was educated in the Warren County public school system, but graduated with a GED and skilled trade education from Kittrell Job Corps.

Melvin mastered many skills, including carpentry, farming and welding, but his craft of trade was mechanics. His specialty was diesel engine repair, and he was a certified Cummins Engine Repair mechanic. 

He was the mechanic for Rabbit Robbim Logging in the Inez community for more than 20 years and went on to work for other companies, including Conns Trucking and Variety Wholesalers. He later established his own business, Melvin’s Diesel Repair.

Melvin married Rosa Lee Williams on June 24, 1967, and two children were born form this union.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Lee Williams, and their children, Rose Williams Fogg and Michael Deon Williams; one daughter, Melanie Williams; one young man raised as his own, Alonzo Fogg; one granddaughter, Kiara S. Fogg; one great-granddaughter, Amari Fogg; four raised as his grandchildren, Brianna, Amimr, Kylee and Bryson; one brother, Shelden Williams (Christine); two sisters-in-law, Alma Young (Telia) and Joann Williams; two aunts, Annie Cheek and Ada Cheek; one uncle, James Baker; six nieces, Deborah Clifton, Rochelle Williams, Anita Townes (Chester), Michelle Jenkins, Angela Reynolds and Phyllis Alston; five nephews, Willis Williams, Emmanuel Williams, Brad Williams, Trent Williams and Maurice Alston (Juanita); several great-nieces and great-nephews; close friend and fellow mechanic, William “Kip” Williams; and other relatives.
